Many adults have had their dentistry done on an "as needed" basis. A crown here, a filling there, and another crown 2 or 3 years later. This usually means that the mouth is a "hodge podge" of different work and different materials done over time without any continuity or overall thought of bringing the mouth to an ideal or optimal condition either functionally or cosmetically. Usually dentists do single tooth dentistry, ask the patient to bite and adjust the filling to fit the bite. With wear and other issues we face today, sometimes there is a better way to go and a better strategy to make teeth last a lifetime. Comprehensive Care is another form of treatment that "forward thinking/cutting edge" dentists use to get patient's mouths to an ideal state of health more quickly.
