Whitening Our office is proud to offer our patients 3 different options to whiten your teeth and smile. All 3 techniques can reverse years of stain and discoloration so your smile can look younger, whiter, and healthier. 1) Trays worn at home: This technique is available for our patients to wear either at night, while sleeping, or during the day. Comfortable fitting trays are custom fabricated for your mouth. Special whitening gels are used, which whiten your smile. Because this treatment is done at home, this technique gives you, the patient, the greatest amount of control. When you feel your teeth are brighter and white enough, you simply stop. Depending on the starting shade, at home tray whitening varies in how long it takes. Some patients whiten quickly, while others take longer. An average amount of gel is dispensed, and usually most patients achieve the desired result with this alone. For those patients who want even whiter teeth, or need to bleach longer, additional tubes are available at our cost. Also, for those patients who wish to do a yearly touch up, having an extra tube of gel is always handy. The main advantage of at home tray whitening is its proven success; complete control of the amount of brightness, and it is the most cost effective. The biggest disadvantage can be sensitivity. While not all patients experience this, some do. It is always temporary, and goes away 2-3 days after bleaching has stopped. Because the length of time you wear the trays may differ, irritation can be an issue. Ask the doctor or team member and we will be glad to discuss your particular situation. 2) In office - Laser Whitening: As seen on the popular TV Series "Extreme Makeover", our office uses the Zoom System. A highly successful, very comfortable, one hour procedure can lighten your smile from 9-12 shades in one visit. Additionally, trays are provided to enable a patient to touch up or continue to lighten beyond what the Zoom Light does. Some advantages are that it is the fastest whitening procedure available today, approximately one hour and that patients experience little to no sensitivity. Disadvantages include moderate cost and control of final shade. 3) Deep Bleaching: The "Creme De La Creme" of teeth whitening. A hybrid system developed to produce the most natural and spectacular bleaching possible. This technique takes 14 days, and requires strict compliance by the patient. A short 1/2 hour in office starter session is followed by a special 14 night tray series. Finally, a 1 hour laser session completes the treatment. The results are exceptional. There is no more effective system available to dentists today. Advantages include the whitest result possible along with a relatively short time frame. Disadvantages include the high cost and the compliance required by the patient. Ask our staff about the results possible using this system and you will notice how ecstatic they get.
